todays talk from yet another particle physicist in senior seminar today went overtime.

bunker still made us ask questions. he turns to me and asks, any questions? you must have something

lets see, were past the end of class on a talk ive heard three times already in an area of physics for which i have no interest. of course i have questions!

and im not finished listening to people tell me how soon were going to find the higgs boson either. i found out today that we have some extra time in our lab lectures, so to fill the space, both our professors will be telling us about their research. they even said they "hope to get us excited about particle physics." i was excited about particle physics when i visited fermilab as a freshman. then i had to hear so much about the fiber tracking system that "ND developed and built!" that i could make one at home from scratch and then i had to visit fermilab with stupidhead himself.

im not saying that stupidhead and the fiber trackers themselves turned me off from particle physics. im just dead certain that if i had a lasting interest in it, it would have persisted. and it hasnt. so boo to particle physics and our teaching faculty being so heavy handed on it.

condensed matter physicists just dont seem to teach for some reason.

yeah, and my hair is purple again. its kinda neat, cause it seems like all the campus crazies give me a little nod of recognition when they see me. its like declaring your membership in the league or something.

i also realized that i didnt feel such a great urge to dye my hair this summer cuase i felt important enough on my own. but then generic midsize brunette syndrome hit when everyone else came back to campus. so i need to declare to everyone else im not who you think i am. which may not be a good thing, but its still a hell of a lot of fun to have purple hair.
