A Physicist's Guide to Smoked Gouda

ah, distractions.

saturday afternoon i went to the winter drum line performance...it was absolutely amazing. they played an adaptation of a holsinger piece...and thats a great thing for a percussion ensemble to do. holsinger is so great for rhythms. and interesting textures and new sounds. at the beginning there was a strange sound that i almost thought was prerecorded until i noticed that they were using violin bows on the vibraphones. superneato. and watching wdl made me remember how much i love drum corps international. wow, i just drool over that kind of stuff, and it proves how big of a band nerd i am. wouldnt it be awesome if nd had a drum and bugle corp instead of a marching band with all these "woodwinds"? oh yeah

after that i came back and dyed my hair..had to get becki to help me cause i couldnt do it right on my own. too much hair to do. but i dyed it a color called burmese ruby...really really really dark red. it looks almost black at the tips, but at the roots where we put it on first its really bright. kinda a neat effect cause it fades from bright to black. i love it. mostly cause it covers up all those pesky blonde highlights i get in my hair. and reminds me of wyoming when someone told me i have natural red highlights in my hair (like a week or so before the purple). love it love it love it.

then last night was the trumpet kegger. what were those freshmen thinking, getting only one keg for the trumpet section? ah, it was soooo much fun. way way way fun. we were still going even though they ran out of beer at midnight cause were trumpets and we all love each other. caruso got thrown in the lake and hubbard actually fell in. spo was already drunk from a block party and told me that im awesome, he claims me as a physics major, and "good things" are said about me in the physics department. uh huh. i got to teach wasikowski to mambo, too. then a little bit before one, i was outside with my cup when the cops came around. oops. luckily they just told us to quiet down, find a car and someone who hasnt been drinking, and go home. so wally took us back to campus and we hung out in lukes room for a bit. a very nice night thanks to becki and elise, but a shame it had to end early.

today was disappointing cause i didnt get as much studying done today as i would have liked. but at st. ed's mass, the our father...something happened during it, steve and i both agreed but were not sure what. i know that for the first time the alto harmony really felt natural to me and i didnt feel like i had to concentrate on it quite as much i usually do. overall, it was a very rock out for jesus mass. followed by two great episodes of dbz with mike. yay.

now get this. my away message for a good part of today said "i am sailor pluto, soldier of revolution" and cieslak IMed and started going off about sailor pluto and tuxedo mask and i couldnt quite understand why. so when i got back to IM him, he explained that with a little bit of alcohol last night, he got to thinking about halloween costumes for next years halloween band practice. and he wants the two of us to do a sailor moon / tuxedo mask combo. wow. will i actually do it? well, it would definitely be interesting...
