1999-11-08 23:54:02 wow. what a humiliating experience. i went to the county chorus rehearsal tonight. its so very much like county band, but still very different. its the first chorus festival ive attended. its so easy to feel exalted at school. the freshmen look up to you and say wow, she plays so many instruments, shes so good, shes a great musician. and even at dio band, i get second chair and everyone respects me. but then i go to county band and im wayyyyy back in the third clarinets. but at least there i can keep up! at county chorus, i was at a disadvantage because i had missed the first rehearsal and i didnt know the music from district auditions. theres my second disadvantage. i dont have the voice to even audition for districts. by the end of the night,i really had to struggle to stay in tune. the music is so much more difficult than our choral selections at school. but it will be fun! rehearsal tonight was at m-burg. when i got there i asked the m-burg welcoming committee if they knew my dad. for the rest of the night these guys would always be trying to get my attention by calling out hey rock martin! im convinced im not going to let it be like county band last year, where everyone seemed rather snooty. i suppose i should try to go over the music sometime. especially the harder parts. some of it is easier and a lot of fun. but if i was getting out of tune after only a few hours, i wonder how ill do when i have that 9 to 5 rehearsal? then again, i already had to sing a lot today and ill be starting fresh at 9 am. i better bring plenty of water with me!
