it smells absolutely great outside on this unseasonably warm day. would be an awesome day for hiking except for the pathetic absence of mountains in indiana. it smells great like rain and dirt and all kinds of good and real stuff.

yeah, so were on probation. im on probation. and by probation, we really mean something more like double secret probation. last time we were on probation, we had no overnight travel. last time the saxes stole a road sign we had no overnight travel but no one told us we were on probation. now were on probation, have overnight travel, but six awesome people arent going to the bowl game and everyone who got cited has to sit out a game next year. but we still have overnight travel? i wont complain, i think that wsas prolly the biggest thing they could have done to us. but now...probation just means watch your fricken back or else we will take away your travel priveleges. no alcohol when more than ONE of you is present. dont even think about drinking, even if youre legal, and if you have to mention beer or parties make sure you speak no higher than a WHISPER. i feel like its high school or something, everything is soooo covered up. stifled. if we couldnt be open before, now we cant be open under threat of DEATH.

for what, all for what? for one of the most responsible parties ive seen in my three year history of the trumpet section? we had food! we had soda! we had designated drivers! we did NOT have handcuff case races!

we already decided theyre not gonna beat us down. we will come out of this a better more unified section than before. its just kinda scary that im gonna be one of the seniors who has to make it happen, to navigate this previously uncharted territory, its not that our traditions need a complete overhaul, but some people might resist changes. but i also know a lot of people who are excited about the changed.

if i wasnt ready to be a senior before, im sure as hell not ready now. thank goodness ive still got another semester before i really am a senior.
