A Physicist's Guide to Smoked Gouda

yeah, so i showered and got dressed for summer reading club at zany brainy tonight, just picked up whatever was close, clean, and unwrinkled. happened to be a nice v neck shirt and my favorite pair of gray cords. and i looked in the mirror and said oh my god, i really do have curves. after spending a week in hiking pants and tshirts, i felt totally not feminine. not masculine either. just sorta there. but after putting on slightly more girly clothes (and some cute red sneakers!) i looked GOOD! mmm!mmm!

yeah. fun fun week. i still maintain that the allegheny national forest is the most beautiful place in the usa. ok. maybe just pennsylvania? whatever, its heaven to me. always has been, always will be. and i saw a bear this time! i was sitting out in front of the camp practicing flute (thanks erin!) when i looked up and there was a black bear stepping out into the road and crossing just on the other side of norm's place. amazing! saw lots of other stuff too (like a freaking huge spider!) and wandered around all over the forest with jesse. it just would have been nice if it were a little warmer out, but at least now i know to trust the barometer. if it says rain, its gonna rain.

so what else...summer reading club is going well. fourteen kids showed up today. it was so much fun to talk about the poetry with them, and seeing what they pick up on, and whats more adult in the poetry, what i picked up reading it now that i didnt as a kindergartner. they didnt get the activity though, and maybe thats cause i didnt do a great job explaining it, or maybe it was a bit above their level.

well see how it goes next week
