strange dreams.

i guess the beginning was something like hamlet before my dream took a fairy tale twist to it. suspicious remarriages and stuff. we moved into a palace, a for real old palace. but the stepfather was wicked and the only thing that could defeat him was a spell performed with the newborn baby. you put the baby in a sort of cradle with some kind of crafty apparatus over it (involving a skull?). then you got the evil stepfather into a chamber and he turned into a steamy gelatinous substance. when you opened the door to the chamber again, a skull rolled out. well, later on, like a generation or so later, my friends and i were playing with our magical powers winding thread back onto spools. when the need arose to use the spell again, this time it was a wicked stepmother. so we put the thing over the baby and got her into the chamber. she turned into goo, we open the door, and skull rolls out. but we can hear her voice and she actually starts to reform herself from the goo. apparently the spell never worked very well to begin with and she was some kind of reincarnation of the original evil stepdad. and the reason the spell was ineffectual was because the stepparent was directly related to the baby. i dont remember anything after that, i think i woke up.

something remarkable about the stepparents we tried to destroy, they had orange red hair and ruddy complexions.

holy thursday mass tonight . . . father sceski's homily was perfect. it was about unconditional love, and the unfathomable love jesus has for us. but i dont think father helwig does the ending as well as monseignor smith did. i liked it better when he left the church completely dark and the final item to be removed was the candle from the tabernacle. you couldnt see msgr smith, just the flickering flame going towards the chapel. then the singing fades out "stay with me, remain here with me, watch and pray, watch and pray" and everyone freezes. no ones moves for a few seconds before people started to file out slowly. but fr helwig had the candle removed before mass started and left two lights on after everything was removed. it just wasnt the same.
